Cartonera Project
The cartonera publishing phenomenon began in Buenos Aires in 2003 and was spearheaded by writers and artists who were interested in producing books so that more people could purchase them. They decided to recycle cardboard and created a publishing cooperative to accomplish their goal. There are now over 26 cartonera publishing cooperatives throughout Latin America. So I along with the brilliant idea of Djurdja Trajkovic, a PhD candidate at the University of Wisconsin and Lincoln’s outstanding classroom teachers created the Lincoln Cartonera!
